Our Capital Campaign, Expand-Educate-Equip 2.025, honours our strategic plan, which takes into account the growth and successes of the past few years to shape the future. It recognizes the natural growth that should occur and visionary changes that will allow WoodlandCHS to fulfill its mission of equipping students for lives of Christian faith and service, uniquely and dynamically.

Our giving-driven, multiphase Capital Campaign lays a clear path to advancing the school. Each of these initiatives required focus, planning, and investment. The focus and planning are in place; now we need your help to achieve the goals.

Phase One (Hook Up: Spring 2026)

In preparation for the facility and program expansion, the current school infrastructure - the school’s physical and operational components - needs updating or replacement. Much of the school’s current physical structure has been in place since 1978, when the school was first located on Spitzig Road. Although these updates and replacements are not the most exciting part of a capital project, they are fundamentally essential to the growth and operation of our school.

For example, the facility components and structures that need replacing or updating include HVAC units, the septic system, phones & PA system, and parking lot resurfacing. Many of these projects are currently in process and are included in the overall campaign goal. Therefore, these projects are considered Phase One and prepare the way for the subsequent two phases: expanding capacity and expanding programs.

Phase Two (Completion: August 2026)

Woodland is expanding programs by building a new dedicated shop space for manufacturing, construction, and automotive technologies. The new tech centre will be a centerpiece of the newly acquired Woodland Ag & Tech Centre property. It will provide shop space designed and outfitted for additional experiential programs in fabrication, robotics, construction technologies, woodworking, small engines and automotive repair programs.

The current specs for a 100x60-foot area (6000 sqft + mezzanine) will be equipped with state-of-the-art tools, machinery, and technology, enabling students to gain practical skills and experience in these industries. The shop space will promote creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, preparing students for future careers or further studies in related fields.

The future purposeful usages of the land also allow for expanded programming in physical education, environmental science, nature and biblical studies. The potential experiences for Woodland students are limitless, and community use will be encouraged and fostered during non-school hours.

Phase Three (Completion: August 2027)

Our FINAL GIVING DRIVEN GOAL is $2.8 Million before June 2027.

Woodland is expanding capacity by building additional classrooms and teacher space on the second level of the existing school building. During the 2013 Expand, Equip, Educate Capital Campaign, the new school structure was constructed to allow future expansion to a second level. The structure was already prepared and engineered to add the additional space, but the project was cut short due to funding at the time. The additional classrooms and teacher space on a second level expand the school's current capacity from 350 to 450 students.

These modern, spacious classrooms will also facilitate student-centred learning and promote collaboration among students and with teachers. The new facility on the second level of the school will provide dedicated spaces for group work, presentations, and hands-on learning experiences, enabling a more dynamic and engaging learning environment for students and teachers.

By constructing a new state-of-the-art tech centre, the school will also reallocate the current shop spaces to academic use.

Ongoing Commitment and Needs

While the goal of the Capital Campaign committee is $6,200,000, the actual costs will exceed that amount. Every effort was made to project the costs of these projects, and the original estimates, including contingencies, were prepared in late 2021. However, the reality is that the costs of construction, finishes, and furnishings continue to rise in our current financial climate. Although this may have surprised us (no one predicted tariffs), our God is not surprised! He is, and will continue to be, our source of provision as we rework budgets and steward the resources He provides.

Our ongoing commitment to the school community is to provide quality Christian secondary education. Expanding our capacity and programs allows us to fulfil this commitment.

The Need for Expansion:

Growing Student Enrollment:

Over the past few years, Woodland Christian High School has been experiencing a steady increase in student enrollment. The COVID-19 pandemic marginally reduced enrollment; however, projections show growth in our elementary partner schools, which is expected to flow into Woodland. The current facilities are becoming overcrowded, hindering the school's ability to deliver personalized instruction and individualized attention to each student. The Woodland Ag & Tech Centre and additional classrooms on the second floor will create an environment that supports the growing student population and enhances the overall learning experience.

Enhancing Educational Opportunities:

The Woodland Ag & Tech Centre will offer students expanded educational opportunities in the areas of manufacturing, construction, and automotive technology. Incorporating this dedicated shop space will ensure students have access to cutting-edge equipment and tools, enabling hands-on learning experiences that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical skills development.

The second floor addition will complete the original plans of the 2013 renovation. This expansion will create additional classroom space and much-needed teacher work areas, which in turn will facilitate the implementation of new curricular offerings and specialized programs.

Strengthening Community Partnerships:

The Woodland Ag & Tech Centre presents a unique opportunity for Woodland Christian High School to forge stronger ties with the local community. By establishing partnerships with local businesses, trade associations, and industry experts, the school can offer students real-world experiences, mentorship opportunities, and potential career pathways. These collaborations will not only benefit the students but also contribute to the economic development of the region by preparing a skilled workforce.
