Parental Involvement & Support
As has been noted earlier, Woodland Christian High School is a parentally controlled school. Participation of parents is essential to the operation of this school. Therefore parents/guardians are encouraged to maintain close contact with the teachers of their students and to call them with any concerns that might arise.
Parents/Guardians can also remain informed about school activities and issues in the following ways:
- School calendar at www.woodland.on.ca
- Woodland issues a bi-weekly newsletter, the Woodland Watch, to parents/guardians, which summarizes the highlights of daily activities at the school. The Woodland Watch is distributed to the parents via the school’s website (www.woodland.on.ca) or by mail if requested by the parents.
Parents are asked to provide their email addresses to the school so that important information can be distributed in an efficient manner. - From time to time teachers or the administration may contact parents/guardians with specific concerns about student progress.
- Course web pages are developed and maintained by teachers to keep students and parents informed of homework and classwork that is being completed in each course. (Class Login)
- The WoodLink is a newsletter issued three to four times during the school year and contains more substantial coverage of school affairs. It is distributed through churches or through the mail. It is also posted on the schools website.
- Formal student reports are issued four times per year, in November, February, April and June. Students who are at risk of failing a course will receive progress reports in December and May.
Parent/guardian teacher interviews are held twice per year after the November and April reports. Students are strongly encouraged to attend these interviews. - Parents/Guardians are strongly encouraged to contact their student’s teachers or the administration with any concerns that they might have about their student’s progress or any other aspect of the school’s operation.
